For those of you who haven’t ever heard of Yellowjackets (I certify you were living under a rock), the series is a thrilling drama focusing on a group of teenagers stranded in the wilderness for nineteen months after a plane crash. The show explores their struggles to survive and also focuses on their lives 25 years after being rescued.
Critically acclaimed, the series received seven Primetime Emmy nominations for its story and cast (you will know why when you see it). It stars Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessell, and others.
Season 1 of Yellowjackets premiered on November 14, 2021, and after more than a year, the series is finally back with its second season! Season 2 premiered on March 24, 2023, and continues the storyline of season 1 with two paths: before their rescue and 25 years later in 2021.
New episodes of Yellowjacket stream every Friday online on Showtime Anytime and every Sunday on cable on Showtime. The episode count of the season has yet to be announced. The finale will be on May 26, if it has nine episodes, or on June 2, 2023, if it has ten episodes.

The number of episodes of Yellowjackets Season 2 has yet to be officially announced. Season 2 will have nine episodes, but the tenth is still uncertain. The season finale will premiere on May 26, 2023, if it has only nine episodes. Else the season will end on June 2, 2023.
Nine episodes of Yellowjackets Season 2 have been confirmed. If the second season ends with nine episodes, a little shorter than the first season, the finale will release on May 26 on Showtime Anytime and air on cable (Showtime) on May 28, 2023.
If the series maintains a 10-episode-per-season format, the finale will premiere on June 2 on Showtime Anytime and on June 4, 2023, on cable (Showtime).
Is there a Season 3 for Yellowjackets?
Season 3 of Yellowjackets was announced in December 2022, ahead of the second season’s release, much to the delight of the audience and fans of the Emmy-nominated series.
According to Variety, Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, said, “With ‘Yellowjackets’’ runaway success in Season 1 and the pent-up anticipation for Season 2, we wanted to maximize the momentum by fast tracking Season 3 now.”
Yellowjackets is also planned as a five-season series and is ‘on the track’ to achieve that goal. In an interview with EW, Ashley Lyle said, “The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that. We don’t really see this as being more than a five-season show.”
