Wonder Woman Rumored to Have a Cameo in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods

Warner Bros. is expanding and creating a connected cinematic universe with the scope to build their DCEU anew.

Fans can expect multiple crossovers in the franchise. From two “Batmen” appearing in The Flash to Dwayne Johnson wanting a Superman cameo in Black Adam, it is now rumored that Wonder Woman is set to cameo in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.

According to sources of The Illuminerdi, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will have a cameo in the film.

Of course, rumors hold no weight until they’re confirmed as actual news, but the same outlet had previously reported of the sequel having a trio of villainous sisters before it was officially revealed that Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler would be playing three main antagonists/goddesses.

The Wonder Woman cameo may seem out of place as the two superheroes have no apparent connection on the surface level. However, the two are indirectly related, thanks to Zeus.

(No, before you even consider it for a second, this isn’t about Zeus having another surprise baby.)

As revealed in the first Wonder Woman film, and in the current continuity, Diana is Hippolyta’s daughter with Zeus, making the old God her father. As for Shazam, the Z in “SHAZAM” stands for Zeus’ power.

Given the film’s title and Shazam’s other abilities, also being gifted by gods like Solomon (wisdom), Hercules (strength), Atlas (stamina), Achilles (courage), and Mercury (speed), a lot of gods are sure to be involved.

The three goddesses that Billy Batson and his family will be fighting are Atlas’s daughters. So, it’s obvious they couldn’t leave out the “God Killer” Wonder-Woman herself.

Well, hopefully, the cameo isn’t like the Superman one from the first film, and we actually get to see Gadot in the role, interacting with Captain Marvel and co.

Zachary Levi as Shazam

When Shazam came out in 2019, it instantly became a fan favorite, and it felt like some hope had been restored to the DCEU. The Shazam sequel comes out a little less than a year after Black Adam, his nemesis, makes his DCEU debut.

Now that DC has such an extensive slate planned for the next 2-3 years, hopefully, all these titles lead up to something bigger than their individual stories, bringing out the true potential of these amazing characters.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
