The Mystery of the Rolex Watch in Hawkeye Resolved!

The Rolex watch mystery was one of the most speculated mysteries for the fans of Marvel’s Hawkeye. But the finale of the series finally confirmed all our doubts – as suspected, the Rolex watch belongs to Laura Barton!

In Episode 6, titled “So This is Christmas?” It was confirmed that Laura is the owner of the Rolex and her identity as a former  S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was also given away. But compared to other events in the episode, the reveal was rather underwhelming.

The Rolex watch in Hawkeye belongs to Laura Barton, as confirmed in Episode 6 of Hawkeye. There was also the reveal of the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, which indicates that Laura was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier. This reveal will shape future chapters of the MCU.

Does the Rolex Watch Belong to Laura Barton?

Yes, the owner of the Rolex watch has been confirmed to be Laura Barton in the finale of Hawkeye titled “So This is Christmas?”

Laura has always been the most probable owner of the watch because not only did she know what she is doing, but she also was established as the most mysterious character in the series. We hardly knew much about her, such as how and when she met Clint and where she was before marrying him.

Laura Barton and Clint

It seems like all our suspicions were true. After Clint returns home for Christmas in the Hawkeye finale, he hands over the black Rolex watch to his wife.

You’re never gonna guess what was found in a black-market auction in New York City.

Clint

This is when Laura says thank you and turns the watch over to reveal the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo along with the number 19. Following this, Clint said, “I want you to take better care of your stuff”, confirming that the watch belonged to Laura.

What Is the Significance of the  S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on the Rolex?

When Laura turned over the Rolex, we all saw the logo of  S.H.I.E.L.D. and the number 19 on it. The logo of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Laura’s watch almost confirms the identity of Laura as a former  S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, an even bigger twist in the plot is encountered by the number 19 which not only confirms her identity as the highly trained spy, Mockingbird, but also leaves us wondering about Barbara “Bobbi” Morse also known as Agent 19, a character introduced in 2014 and played by Adrianne Palicki.

If you are wondering whether this revelation is an indication of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. officially being out of continuity, the answer could be either yes or no. “Agent 19” could either be a title that is passed along or both could coexist as Agent 19.

Either way, it’s thrilling for the Cardellini fans who finally get an explanation of how Clint and Laura Barton met as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
