Harry Styles Officially Makes His MCU Debut In Chloé Zhao’s Eternals

Harry Styles has joined the MCU as Eros, brother of Thanos.

When news of Chloé Zhao directing Marvel Studios’ Eternals first came, we thought the project couldn’t get any more perfect. But as it turns out, it just did… because now it supposedly has Harry Styles in it.

The news first came when Variety’s Matt Donnelly tweeted about it after the film’s premiere, revealing Styles’ official entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to the comics, “Eros is the youngest son of two Eternals A’Lars and Sui-San. Originally named Eron, he was rechristened Eros at the age of 5.” Eros was later given the alias of Starfox by The Avengers when he first came to Earth.

Eros is described as “an Eternal who loves life, adventure and romance, earning the nickname Knave of Hearts.” Eros is the polar opposite of Thanos and even fought the Mad Titan at one point.

He joined the Kree Captain Mar-Vell and the Avengers in the first major defeat of Thanos. He has also had various encounters with Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk.

As the post-credit scene serves as Eros’ introduction to the MCU, there’s a strong possibility that Styles could return in future Phase 4 projects like The Marvels or She-Hulk.

Styles first dabbled into acting with Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. Besides his surprising Eternals entry, he will be starring in two other upcoming projects titled ‘Don’t Worry, Darling’ and ‘My Policeman.’

While speaking to Fandango earlier this month, Zhao said that the audience ought to wait for the post-credits scenes,

Don’t just stay for the first one — also stay for the second one, too. They are equally as important in weight, and both have big surprises for you.

However, according to @FilmUpdates on Twitter, neither of the two post-credits were shown during the film’s press screening on October 18.

Well, now we know the reason behind it. Marvel probably wanted to keep it as an element of surprise for when the fans actually experienced the film on the big screen.

A similar thing happened when Venom: Let There Be Carnage debuted. The people who stuck around for the post-credit scenes spoiled the big Eddie/Venom NWH reveal for those who hadn’t watched the film yet.

I, for one, think it would’ve been a much more ecstatic reveal if I hadn’t found out about it before actually watching the film myself. But the cat’s out of the bag now, so watch Eternals on November 5 and wait for the Eros at the end.
