How The Mandalorian & Ahsoka Villain Magistrate is Connected to Thrawn

Ahsoka is set to debut on Disney+ this August, and the Star Wars series will see the return of the live-action hero played by Rosario Dawson. However, the show will feature many other returning characters of the franchise, including another Mandalorian character connected to Ahsoka.

Morgan Elsbeth, aka Magistrate, who was introduced as one of the Mando’s clients in the middle of season 2, will return in the upcoming Disney+ series. Why? Probably because she hired Din Djarin to kill Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka had an invested interest in her, not because she was out for her but because of her connection to a mutual party. That’s the actual reason for her return.

Magistrate founded the Imperial Navy, after her civilization was decimated in the Clone Wars, which conquered multiple worlds by robbing them of all their natural resources. Oh, but she’s working for someone else despite being a badass leader. The Mandalorian already revealed why Tano was interested in Elsbeth – because she worked for Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Though the details of this connection were not explained in The Mandalorian, the upcoming show will dive into the details of her past with Thrawn. There are some hints – Thrawn might have met her while serving in the Imperial Navy, dragging her into his grand schemes.

Diana Lee Inosanto, who plays Magistrate in the Star Wars live-action series, confirmed that her link to Thrawn will be explored in depth in Ahsoka. Read her statement below:

We all know she’s cold-hearted, but this is a character that is truly dedicated and loyal to Grand Admiral Thrawn, and there’s nothing getting in her way.

Ahsoka Tano has been looking to cross paths with Grand Admiral Thrawn, and her only lead so far is Morgan Elsbeth. The villainess was probably part of the Seventh Fleet, the same one Thrawn was in charge of. Her fierce loyalty to the scheming leader might end up with her being set up as one of the antagonists of Ahsoka.
