She-Hulk Episode 1 Introduces Titania to the Audience

She-Hulk episode 1 aired on Disney+ today, and while it didn’t introduce us to too many new characters, it sure did end with a bang. Titania, She-Hulk’s archnemesis in the comics, stormed into the courtroom. Luckily, the latter was there to save the day.

But who exactly is Titania? Is she the main villain of She-Hulk? Will we see more of her?

Titania is the main villain of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and her real name is Mary MacPherran. In Marvel Comics, she gained her powers from Doctor Doom, who needed more villains to fight in the Secret Wars.

In the MCU, we still don’t know what role Titania will play and how she will fit into the story. She’s supposedly a social media influencer with a dark side. While we don’t know why she entered the courtroom, whom she wanted to attack, and her motives, we know that she will return.

In Marvel Comics, Mary MacPherran is portrayed as the kid who always wanted superpowers so that she could punish the bullies who troubled her. Later on, during the Secret Wars, Doctor Doom transports Mary and her friend to Battleworld, a patchwork planet where the Secret Wars were being fought.

Doctor Doom uses alien tech to give Mary super strength and durability in exchange for her loyalty and allegiance to him. Interestingly, this was the first time Titania appeared in the comics.

This raises many questions about the timeline of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and when it is taking place. It is also likely that the creators have opted for a different route for Titania’s character development, so the Doctor Doom connection might be scrapped.

In the comics, Titania goes on to become one of the recurring villains who fights She-Hulk time and again. She falls in love with The Absorbing Man, marries him, and the two start terrorizing people together.

As mentioned earlier, at this stage, we don’t know how Titania will be portrayed in the show and what her origin story will be. The only difference I’ve identified so far is the costume worn by Jameela Jamil and the supervillain’s costume in the comics. The two are vastly different.

She-Hulk episode 2 will air on Disney+ on 25th August 2022. Don’t forget to stream if you want to know more about the character.
