Better Call Saul S6 Resumes Filming after Odenkirk’s Health Scare

According to an interview by Den of Geek, the exciting Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul has resumed production for Season 6.

Executive producer Thomas Schnauz revealed that the production for Season 6 is moving slowly. This reveal comes after the show’s lead actor, Bob Odenkirk, suffered a sudden heart attack on July 27.

Schnauz sat for an interview with Den of Geek, divulging some details on what fans can expect from the final season of Better Call Saul.

The interviewer asked Shnauz about the rumors surrounding AMC splitting the sixth season in half. The producer replied stating he doesn’t know yet, especially with Odenkirk’s heart attack scare and the filming delays due to COVID.

But he did assure that production has resumed, and they’re only filming scenes that don’t require Odenkirk.

Everything with production is moving forward, steady but slow. We’re filming scenes that don’t involve Bob right now. I just finished editing my Director’s Cut of Episode 607, and I addressed some notes on my script for 611. I’m still waiting to hear the dates of when I’ll prep and direct 611.

Better Call Saul is the spinoff prequel showcasing the origin story of the con artist Jimmy McGill’s transformation to his famous morally corrupt defense lawyer persona, Saul Goodman.

The show stars the fan-favorite Breaking Bad characters Mike Ehrmantraut and Gus Fring, played by Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito, respectively.

It also introduced new vital characters such as Kim Wexler, played by the talented Rhea Seehorn, Nacho Varga, and Howard Hamlin, essayed by Michael Mando Patrick Fabian.

The series started in 2015, two years after Breaking Bad ended. It soon became another revered AMC show.

Even though friends, family, and the actor himself have shared updates that he is well, the team’s priority is Odenkirk’s healthy recovery. Hence, the production of the final season will understandably be delayed further.

Better Call Saul Season 6 is slated to premiere in 2022.
