Will Cid betray The Bad Batch? S2 Ep 4 Ending Explained

After a long, long time, we’ve gotten a standalone episode in Star Wars. Yes, I’m talking about The Bad Batch’s latest episode in season 2, Faster, which focuses on the misadventures of Omega, Wrecker, Tech, and Cid while the rest of The Bad Batch are away on a “real” mission.

Here, we hitch a ride to see how Cid’s betting habits land her in a big pickle. So what exactly happens in this episode? How does it end?

In The Bad Batch S2 Ep 4, Omega has to enter a racing bet in order to save Cid from her nemesis, Millegi. Fortunately, Omega with Tech’s help is able to win the bet and rescue Cid.

In the grand scheme of things, this was a very low-stakes episode. But it definitely was a wonderful “side quest” to go on, that once again reflected Omega’s unadulterated humanity. Let’s explore this episode’s ending in more detail:

Did Omega win the racing bet? How?

Omega won the racing bet against Millegi and was able to free Cid in return. Omega betted on Tech winning, who used his calculative intellect to make the right moves and win the race.

So, in the first round of racing, Millegi asked her pilot to cheat. Not only did this cause Millegi to win her bet, but unfortunately TAY-0 also lost his life. Added to this, Cid was taken captive for losing her bet to Millegi.

As one could guess, an emotional Omega couldn’t stand to let this happen. She doubled down on a bet against Millegi in exchange for Cid’s freedom. To be honest, the odds were not in Omega’s favor at all — She did not have a skilled pilot to bet on and an inexperienced Tech had to fill in for TAY-0.

But the tables quickly turn when Tech decided to focus on his strengths, that is, his calculative intellect, rather than his shortcomings. In this way, he was able to use many innovative tricks (like using shields and taking uncommon routes) to ultimately win the race.

In the end, it’s a happy ending. Omega wins the bet and Millegi has to let go of Cid!

Will Cid really betray The Bad Batch?

Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Sadly, it’s a huge possibility that Cid may betray The Bad Batch in an upcoming episode. My guess would be that it takes place in the last few episodes of S2.

Cid’s loyalty was questioned many times in this episode, with Millegi warning the crew not to trust her all that much. While Cid showed no malicious intent during the episode itself, the show has clearly emphasized that there’s a need to be wary of her.

What we know of Cid’s past is quite limited — even with her being a former spy for the Jedi as well as helping The Bad Batch with loot-worthy missions, she also ends up being partly responsible for all the risk factors involved.

So it’s possible that in the upcoming episodes, she may put The Bad Bad in danger for her own gains. For now, Cid’s betrayal is now a Chekov’s gun waiting to go off.
