Charlie Cox’s “No Comment” on Daredevil’s Appearance in the MCU

Fans have made up several theories on cameo appearances in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home. To speculations on Matt Murdock/Daredevil’s involvement with the MCU, Charlie Cox has now pleaded the Fifth.

Cox played the role for the show’s three-season run on Netflix. Although the streamer ultimately canceled the show in 2018, out of all Marvel’s Netflix shows, Daredevil shined through the brightest. Cox was exceptional at playing the blind superhero/ace lawyer.

Daredevil’s speculations arose when fans spotted a white-shirted lawyer appearing next to Peter in an interrogation room, in the NWH trailer. There must’ve been some reason why the lawyer’s face wasn’t shown, right?

A surprise cameo by Cox as lawyer Murdock, perhaps?

Sadly, Cox confirmed to ComicBook.com that, “I can promise you those were not my arms.” Furthermore, he goes on to say that if Daredevil is indeed in the movie, it’s being played by another actor.

Another actor replacing Cox as Daredevil might not bode well with fans, especially when they think he is the perfect person for the job.

I can do little other than hope Cox was simply lying (which I can forgive him for) for a grand Spider-Man 3 reveal. But perhaps it’s time to accept that Daredevil in No Way Home is in No Way Happening.

With Marvel adapting so many comic book characters for the big screens, will Daredevil ever appear in the MCU? Cox seems to be tripping over his words in response to this very same question, as seen in an interview with Scott King of Forbes:

The actor expresses that he doesn’t want to say something wrong and jeopardize Daredevil’s chances on Marvel’s silver screens, an ominous point-out to “higher-ups” in Marvel who are always hearing.

My answer is no comment; I don’t know what’s going to happen […] I love how passionate the fans are and I feel very, very touched that so many of them have gone online and made their voices heard about their desire for me to come back and maybe in the future that might happen, and that would be great. Who knows? We’ll see.

While we wait for Marvel to make their decision, we can enjoy Cox in his current endeavor as Michael Kinsella on AMC’s Kin.
