Will Greg’s Departure in E2 Strike Him Off the Murder List?

At the end of episode 2, Greg says goodbye to Tanya after a seemingly perfect and idyllic romantic day, saying he has an important presentation at work. Tanya calling him a piece of shit just for that is the tip of the iceberg, considering we’re like 97% sure he’s cheating on her.

Episode 3 will probably not feature Jon Gries as his character has gone “home” to meet a mystery caller, but will he not return at all? Jon Gries and Jennifer Coolidge address that exact question and more in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Jon Gries teased he doesn’t want to give away the big return, but he admits that Greg leaving the show before any blood is spilled “definitely puts a screwdriver in the pokes.”

It definitely jeopardizes our closeness. Whether or not I come back, I won’t say. But it definitely puts a screwdriver in the spokes.

Coolidge joined in to say that her character’s husband has been “acting weird,” something uncharacteristic of him, since he has always been sweet and romantic since from season 1 of The White Lotus.

He’s acting weird, and he hasn’t done that so far. He liked me, just like a month ago. Here we are in the most romantic city in the world, and my guy is ruining it. And there’s no reason for it.

With the very first episode of season 2, audiences viewed Greg’s changed demeanor as a significant red flag. His reaction to Tanya asking him to quit and his remark about the prenup may justify him being secretive about his late-night calls.

But all fan theories surrounding the character have been thrown out of the window since episode 2 showed Greg announcing his leave. Some ideas pegged him killing Tanya and claiming her vast fortune, while other theories believed Tanya would kill Greg in a fit of rage once she learned about his affair.

But the dead body Daphne found at the beginning of season 2, one week from the arrival of the guests at The White Lotus, can’t be Greg if he isn’t there for the remainder of the show. But we have reason to believe this isn’t the last viewers will see of Greg, and he will return.

First, Jon Gries returned to season 2 as part of the main cast after showing up in season 1 as a recurring character.

Two, Greg clearly stated his “work emergency” will only take a short while and he’ll be gone for two, three days tops of their weeklong trip. We’ll see him again in the upcoming episodes, putting him back as a suspected murder victim or murderer.

Do you think Greg will end up being the killer or the killed by the time season 2’s finale rolls around?
