Everything We Know About The Enola Holmes Sequel So Far

Since its announcement in May, it has been common knowledge for a while now that Netflix is preparing for a sequel to its 2020 film, Enola Holmes.

Based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries series by Nancy Springer, the first film starred Millie Bobby Brown in the titular character of Enola Holmes, the 14-year-old sister of the renowned detective, Sherlock Holmes.

The first film was adapted from the first book, titled The Case of the Missing Marquess. Now that Netflix has announced a sequel, it is likely to follow the second one.

There wasn’t a lot known about the sequel. However, that changed when the return of a beloved character was confirmed at Netflix’s TUDUM event.

So, without further ado, here’s everything we know about Enola Holmes 2:

  • Cast

In May, Netflix confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill would be reprising their roles for the sequel.

TUDUM revealed that Louis Partridge, who played Enola’s sidekick and potential love-interest, Lord Tewkesbury, would be returning as well.

Tewkesbury TUDUM announcement:

It’s unclear whether Sam Claflin, who played Mycroft Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter, who played Eudoria Holmes, will return for Enola Holmes 2.

However, while speaking to Decider last week, when asked about Bonham Carter’s character’s fate, director Harry Bradbeer teased her return,

I can say it will certainly be looked into in future movies. And I’m delighted to say I’m not entirely sure what she’s up to.

  • Plot

The second book in the series is titled ‘The Case of the Left-Handed Lady (Enola Holmes #2).’

It follows Enola as she discovers a hidden collection of charcoal drawings, but the artist—a young Lady Cecily, has ‘disappeared without a trace.’ Enola then embarks on an adventure to find the left-handed lady in the dangerous Victorian London, where threat looms in every nook and cranny.

One can expect the sequel to follow the second book. With Tewkesbury returning and Sherlock having a role in the story, the film might take some creative liberties to deliver a thrilling adventure.

  • Trailers & Posters

According to Whats On Netflix, the sequel is set to begin filming in the next few days.

So there aren’t any trailers, posters, or BTS clips available yet. However, Hull’s High Street has been transformed into Victorian London to fit the film’s period. Filming will reportedly take place in London, similar to the first movie.

  • Release Date

Netflix has not yet revealed a release date for Enola Holmes 2. Seeing as production on the sequel will begin soon, Netflix might announce the release date by the end of this year.

  • Who Else Is Returning?

The crew behind the first film will return for the sequel. Director Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne are also returning for the sequel.

It is being developed and produced by Legendary in partnership with Netflix. Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, and Ali Mendes will produce along with Millie Bobby Brown and Paige Brown. Joshua Grode, Michael Dreyer, Harry Bradbeer, and Jack Thorne will executive produce.

  • Enola Holmes’ Future

The book series has a total of 6 books in it, with a seventh book published in August this year.

In the above-mentioned Decider interview, Bradbeer talked about the franchise’s future,

It’d be wonderful to get five more movies out of this scene. I do think they’re extraordinary stories to tell.
