Will Peacemaker and Adebayo patch up?

Right off the bat, Peacemaker episode 7 starts with everyone realizing that Adebayo planted a fake diary at Chris’ home. As much as this would’ve created a riot among the squad, they have bigger problems to deal with, including two major deaths: Auggie Smith and Murn.

In episode 8, Peacemaker will have to face the fact that he just gunned down his father. But at least there’s some relief that the white hats won’t be on his trail. Murn’s death, on the other hand, leaves the team severely handicapped and causes Harcourt to step up as leader.

As they’re still in the middle of a saving the planet from the Butterfly invasion, Peacemaker may comply working with Adebayo to see their mission through. Given their history, he might be able to patch his friendship with her as well.

Why Peacemaker will forgive Adebayo?

Adebayo is the first one who truly believed that Chris is/can be a good person. Eagly and Vigilante aside, Adebayo is also probably the first person Chris has truly been friends with (without wanting to sleep with them).

Friendships have ups and down and who hasn’t messed up big time with their closest buddies?

Sure, folks may not have gone as far as planting a fake diary to frame their friend and throw them into jail. But in the Peacemaker world, this could just be another Tuesday.

Chris feels extremely betrayed right now because he thought Adebayo had his back, especially when he going through an existential crisis. To be put into a position where he has question whether those interactions were genuine or not, is really throwing him off.

But I also think if Chris gives Adebayo a chance to explain herself, he might find it in his heart to forgive her. After all, he does know what it’s like to have abusive parents. Waller may not be exactly evil like Auggie, but she did treat her own daughter as a means to an end.

(In fact, a popular fan theory is that Waller orchestrated Adebayo losing her jobs so she would be forced into joining Project Butterfly. I wouldn’t put it past her.)

If Harcourt, who is emotionally the hardest to crack among the team, can understand Adebayo’s predicament, I think Chris too will eventually be able to mend his friendship with her.

(I’m also pretty sure Chris will put up a petty squabble before forgiving her and I can’t wait to hear the dialogues written for this scene!)

But what is more important is for Adebayo to take a stand. At the beginning of episode 7, she was still very conflicted about her actions, but argued with Harcourt about how betraying Peacemaker is justified for the greater good.

She brought out the irony of Harcourt wanting to kill an innocent man but saving Peacemaker, who doesn’t have that many redeemable qualities. She is only just realizing that morality isn’t black and white.

But Adebayo may not have time to expand her ethical debate just yet — the 11th St Kids have a cow to kill.

Catch Peacemaker’s finale on February 17.
