Will Richmond Win A Game This Season In Ted Lasso?

Ted Lasso Season 1 ended with Richmond AFC losing the match but winning something much bigger – Coach Ted Lasso himself. It wasn’t the end for Richmond, but the beginning. Season 2 picks off with the team being in a much better place, but there is still a lot that needs coaching.

One of the most prominent aspects is the team’s matches this season. Richmond hasn’t lost a game this season, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve won one either. Four consistent draws are what the team has started with this season. They are walking on a tight rope, and in every match, they could fall on either side.

I know, right. It’s a weird place to be in but is hysterical in the hands of good writers. So does Richmond win a game this season?

Roy Kent

Richmond AFC does win a game in this season. The club breaks its streak of draws and replaces it with numerous wins after Jamie is back in the team as a striker and Roy Kent is back in the team as a coach of Richmond AFC.

But first, there are a few setbacks. Richmond AFC’s tightrope walk doesn’t last as it faces its first defeat. However, it was totally worth it. Sam Obisanya and the rest of the team’s stance against Dubai Air was the main focus of the match. So Richmond ends up losing the game but winning hearts all over.

The team’s performance still lacks that spirit to win, and Ted, as always, has his ways of getting things back on track. He first brings Jamie into the team to give him a second shot at his real dream – football. Then, of course, he gets back Roy Kent, who hates commentary and wants to be in the field.

Richmond AFC then has the four horsemen (coaches) the best players, and then it was only a matter of time.

Jamie and Roy

After Roy’s entry as a coach, Richmond goes on to win four games continuously in the seasons, and commentators can’t stop raving about the team’s impeccable performance. Across episodes, Jamie goes back to being a prick on Roy’s command. Well, not full-time prick, but only when it is required on the field. It brings back his ace game, and there’s more.

Nathan pulls out a wunderkind moment when he steals a victory from the jaws of defeat. Believe me, it got really intense. He becomes the star of the match, with the press and fans going gaga over his strategies. Of course, that arc takes a route of its own, which you need to watch. It is pretty profound and very well written.

Richmond vs Manchester City

Now, I know this is the perfect underdog story, but I suggest you don’t jump the gun and wait for it. The team manages to enter the semi-finals against Manchester City and is all set to play them in their home ground.

Don’t worry. I am not going to spoil what happens here. But like always, it will make up for a great storyline and leave you desperately wondering what will happen next.

Ted Lasso outdoes its previous season in terms of character development, pushing the boundaries of creativity and experimenting with new filmmaking tropes. It really digs into the minds of different characters such as Nathan, Sam Obisanya, Jamie, and Ted himself, among others.

I think this narrative style is pretty powerful since, as an audience, people can relate to the characters’ deep insecurities. As a result, we end up rooting for Ted and his crew even more.

With three more episodes remaining, I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
