Good News! Stephen Amell Set to Return as Arrow in The Flash S9

Ever since it was announced that Season 9 would be the last season of The Flash, fans have been uneasy with the big question of whether or not this is the end of the Arrowverse as we know it. This is mainly because all the other Arrowverse shows, except for The Flash, have already met their denouement.

To solidify this development, we have the announcement of a certain fan-favorite character appearing in The Flash S9. So, is it true—will Stephen Amell return to the Arrowverse one last time in The Flash?

Well, Stephen Amell will be reprising his role as Oliver Queen/Arrow/Spectre in The Flash S9, which will also serve as his last appearance in the Arrowverse. No details have been shared about how the character will return post-death.

Although the Arrowverse ending is not the jolliest news, Amell’s return is reason enough to celebrate. After all, you cannot end the Arrowverse without Arrow himself.

Bringing Arrow back is an extremely wise decision, as it’s nostalgic, makes the whole franchise come full circle, and allows fans to properly say goodbye. In fact, I expect that S9 will have a lot more surprise appearances as well—but we’ll keep those thoughts on the back burner till they’re confirmed.

But there’s still the question of how Amell will return. Last I checked, Oliver Queen was still dead. The Flash’s team is also staying mum on the exact details about Amell’s appearance, and I have a feeling that they won’t disclose this until the very end.

In the meanwhile, all we can do is speculate. But fans have expressed one thing for sure—they do not want to see Amell return as Spectre.

As you may recall, in the Crisis on Infinite Earths arc, Arrow had to sacrifice himself and turn into the Spectre in order to save the multiverse. While this may have restored peace in the fictional world, fans were not too ecstatic about biding farewell to Queen in such a manner, especially when he deserved so much more.

So, Arrow’s return in The Flash may be a chance for the writers to rectify that very mistake. I truly hope that the next time we see Amell in the Arrowverse, he can adorn the cape of the superhero that kickstarted this iconic TV franchise.
