Will Ted and Rebecca Become A Couple In Ted Lasso?

It’s been another day and Ted and Rebecca are still not a couple in Apple TV’s most wholesome sitcom Ted Lasso.

The two have a rock-solid friendship and I don’t think anyone understands Rebecca the way Ted does. There are numerous instances in the series that show us how much of a mutual trust and respect the two have.

But what next? Ted and Rebecca are definitely friends, but there is no sign of them becoming a couple yet. There are a few teases, ofcourse. But nothing really came out of it as of now.

Whether Ted and Rebecca will become a couple is only for the makers to gradually tell us as the series progresses.

But they might. Ted and Rebecca seem to be perfect for each other, extremely compatible and both have experienced heartbreak in their last relationship. I think there is a fair chance of their solid friendship to turn into a relationship.

What’s Ted and Rebecca’s Relationship?

Ted Lasso is the headcoach of AFC Richmond, a team owned by Rebecca. But apart from the professional connection, Ted and Rebecca are also very close friends. They seem to have a great bond, in which both trust and understand each other.

Season 1 introduced Rebecca struggling to deal with issues in her marriage and a cheating ex-husband. Ted also suffers a heartbreak soon enough, when his wife tells him she wants a divorce.

Throughout the series, the two grow close to each other. I simply love Ted’s beautiful yet simple acts of empathy and kindness that always managed to make Rebecca’s a day a little better.

Ted recognized Rebecca’s tough outer appearance and manages to gain her trust slowly. Friendship is a gradual process and the sitcom portrays it so well.

In season 1 episode 8, Ted even hustles Rebecca’s ex husband into a game of darts in order to rescue Rebecca. Rebecca also seems to care about Ted deeply. She comes out as quite empathetic and understanding about Ted’s mental health after his divorce.

Will Ted And Rebecca Become A Couple?

Well, the series has not directly implied a romantic relationship between the two, except small teases. For instance, in season 2 episode 5 titled “Rainbow”, it is teased that Ted is Rebecca’s secret online dating match.

But two episodes later, it is revealed that Rebecca actually matched with Sam and not Ted. The two even get into a relationship, sort of.

Ted and Rebecca may or may not become a couple in the series. The two definitely share a strong bond and the two trust and respect each other more than anyone else. A relationship between them is very much possible and it would be a great match.

Rebecca is already dating Sam, so that is there. But the relationship does not seem to be very serious. Ideally, Rebecca should be the adult in the situation and step down, for the obvious reasons.

Ted and Rebecca would be a much more healthy and wholesome relationship IMO, considering the understanding and the friendship that they already share.

It is definitely a possibility and we can hope for it. Though, nothing can be confirmed as of now.

Will Ted and Rebecca be a Good Couple?

Hell yes! I have been feeling this since I watched the series, that Rebecca and Ted would be the perfect power couple of the show, if they get together.

The reasons are pretty obvious. The two are great friends. While Ted is the daily dose of cheerfulness and positivity we all need in out lives, Rebecca also cares for her friend deeply.

He is the total anti-thesis of Rebecca’s ex husband who was a selfish narcissist. Ted, in contrast, cares about others before himself and is kind and compassionate. Rebecca deserves a healthy relationship after the toxic marriage she just got out of, and who’s a better match than Ted?

Also, both have recently gone through a tough breakup and can definitely be good companions to each other. When I say they understand each other, I mean that both seem to be able to see through each other’s façade.

Ted is able to see through Rebecca’s tough exterior, while Rebecca understands that despite the cheerful and positive outlook Ted has towards everything, he does feel lonely at times.

In season 2 episode 4, she rightly predicts that Ted’s first holiday season as a divorcee would be depressing and surprises him. In season 2 episode 6, Rebecca was the only one concerned when Ted left the match abruptly.

Above all, I think there’s this notion largely popularized through various forms of art, that friendshio, love and relationships are limited to a certain age. Most relationships on television or film are focused on young people.

Ted Lasso has the chance to break this stereotype, which they already have to an extent, by building up the beautiful friendship between Ted and Rebecca. If the two become a couple, we could see a mature couple breaking the notion of love and friendship being limited to a certain age.

I am all up for it. I just hope the writers of Ted Lasso also feels the same. Let’s see.
