Fast 11: Everything You Need to Know About the Next Fast & Furious Movie

The Fast and Furious franchise is one of the most successful action series in Hollywood history, with nine films and two spin-offs that have grossed over $6 billion worldwide

The films follow the adventures of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew of street racers, who have evolved from criminals to heroes over the course of the saga. Along the way, they have faced many enemies, challenges, and surprises, while also expanding their family and friends.

The latest installment, Fast X, released this week and sets up a major cliffhanger for Fast and Furious 11, the next film in the series. Unlike the other Fast movies, Fast 11 will be a direct sequel to Fast X.

Yes, Fast and Furious 11 is confirmed to be in the making. The film is scheduled to release in 2025 and will be the second film in a three-part finale trilogy, including Fast 12.

Earlier this year in April during CinemaCon, Vin Diesel himself confirmed that Fast and Furious 11 is in the making. So, buckle up and get ready for the ultimate ride!

How Fast X Sets Up Fast 11

Apart from the fact that the makers confirmed that Fast 11 is in the making, Fast X sets up Fast 11 by leaving us all on a cliffhanger and through an interesting mid-credits scene.

Fast X introduces a new antagonist who has a personal grudge against Dom and his family, Dante Reyes. He is the son of Hernan Reyes, the drug lord who was killed by Dom and his crew in Fast Five.

Dante wants to make Dom suffer by framing him and his friends as terrorists, sabotaging their missions, and threatening their loved ones. He also has a connection to a mysterious woman named Tess, who is revealed to be the daughter of Mr. Nobody. The film ends with a cliffhanger that leaves the fate of several characters in doubt.

The film’s ending hints that the story is nowhere close to its end, and the sequel will pick up the story from where Fast X ends. Moreover, the mid-credits scene of Fast X further confirms that Fast 11 is coming soon.

Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs

The mid-credits scene of Fast X shows the return of Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), who didn’t appear in the main film. He is revealed to be the one who actually killed Hernan Reyes, the father of Dante Reyes.

Dante calls Hobbs and threatens him, saying that he will make him suffer for his role in his father’s death. Hobbs responds by crushing his phone and saying that he is not hard to find.

This scene sets up Fast 11 by implying that Hobbs will join forces with Dom and his family to stop Dante’s revenge plan. So, we can look forward to one hell of a ride in the last installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.

Fast 11 is the first Fast & Furious sequel to directly continue the narrative of its predecessor, Fast X. Unlike other entries in The Fast Saga, which are mostly standalone action movies, Fast 11 is the second part of a larger story arc that spans across two films. However, the project is still in the early stages of development, so not much is known about what will happen next.

Nevertheless, there are some things we can speculate about the upcoming sequel. So, read along!

Fast 11 Release Date

Fast 11 does not have a confirmed release date yet, but Universal plans to release the next Fast & Furious installment in 2025. Fast 11 will probably be released in the spring or summer of 2025, following the pattern of every previous Fast & Furious movie, which were released between April and June.

Fast 11 will compete with some highly anticipated comic book movies on the 2025 release schedule, such as Marvel’s Fantastic Four and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and DC’s Superman: Legacy and The Batman Part II

However, Toretto and his crew are not afraid of the challenge – Fast & Furious is essentially Universal’s own superhero franchise, with its near-invincible characters.

Fast 11 Cast Details

The official cast list for Fast 11 has not been announced by Universal, but Diesel is likely to return as the series’ lead, Dom Toretto

Other members of Dom’s family who survive Fast X are expected to return in Fast 11: Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Brewster as Mia Toretto, Gibson as Roman Pearce, Bridges as Tej Parker, Kang as Han Lue, and Emmanuel as Ramsey.

Additionally, main cast members such as Statham as former antagonist Deckard Shaw, Mirren as Shaw’s mother Magdalene “Queenie” Ellmanson-Shaw, and Cena as Dom’s estranged brother Jakob Toretto could reprise their roles in Fast 11.

Johnson’s cameo as Luke Hobbs in Fast X’s mid-credits scene suggests a bigger supporting role in Fast 11. Newcomers to Fast X such as Momoa as the vengeful Dante Reyes, Larson as rogue agent Tess, and Melchior as Brazilian street racer Isabel could also return in Fast 11, as it continues the story from Fast X’s ending.

Moreover, Diesel has revealed that he wants Downey, Jr. to play the villain in Fast 11. He characterized the villain planned for Fast 11 as “the antithesis of Dom.”

Will Fast 11 Be the Last Film in the Franchise?

It is not confirmed that Fast 11 will be the last film in the franchise. Initially, Fast 11 was planned as the final chapter of the mainline saga, but Diesel recently revealed that it will be the second part of a three-part story that will conclude with Fast and Furious 12.

So, Fast & Furious 12 will be the final film in the franchise instead. Diesel said that the final two movies could be released in 2025 and 2026.

However, this does not mean that there will be no more Fast & Furious movies after Fast & Furious 12, as spin-offs and prequels are still possible. For instance, the mid-credits scene of Fast 11 could very well be a hint about the making of Hobbs and Shaw 2.

As of now, let’s wait for the last two films in the Fast franchise which are all set to bring a fantastic end to the franchise’s legacy.
