Better Call Saul S6 Will Change How the Audience Views Breaking Bad

As Better Call Saul finally returns with Season 6 on Monday after a two-year-long hiatus, series star Rhea Seehorn has teased that the upcoming season will change the way fans view Breaking Bad.

As the prequel series to AMC’s Breaking Bad is roughly set six years before the events of the OG series, Season 6 moves the two timelines closer than ever.

So, when Seehorn talked to EW about the show’s connection to its predecessor, the actress said,

“I would say it’s not just specific to faces and places. It’s also story lines from Breaking Bad, and understanding the peripheral parts of some of them, and some of the Rashomon effect of what was going on when.”

Better Call Saul has referenced and used Easter eggs from Breaking Bad plenty of times, building the story to lead up to this point. As Seehorn calls it, the new season’s Rashomon effect will mean that we’ll get to witness some of the events from Breaking Bad in a completely new light.

Saul co-creator Peter Gould also recently revealed that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will reprise their roles as Walt and Jesse before the season ends.

Previously, characters like Mike Ehrmantraut and Gus Fring had made their cameos, but bringing in Jesse and Walt will be a big deal as it’ll show these characters from Saul’s point of view.

Series lead Bob Odenkirk promised the two shows have never been more entwined and closer to each other,

“In the final season of Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have never been more entwined. It’s just amazing how many overlaps they’ve discovered and mined for this season of our show. It’s stunning! And it’s going to be cool. For people who watch this, it’s going to be like, ‘I gotta go watch Breaking Bad again,’ as soon as they’re done, they’re gonna have to press play on Breaking Bad, because there’s just so much interaction now. More than any other season. By a lot.”
