Will Yelena Be In Hawkeye Series? Why Is She After Clint?

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Black Widow.

Not to be controversial, but the best thing that the Black Widow movie left us with was Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova – The White Widow of Marvel Comics.

Every time I saw Natasha on screen, I was an emotional mess, especially since this was I wasn’t going to see her again. And like every other sane person obsessed to a movie universe, I was ready to not connect with any other character in the movie.

But Yelena’s widow took me by surprise. Pugh’s portrayal and performance were perfect, and I found myself helplessly falling for the character. It was the best thing ever, at least until I spiralled into another chain of thought – Will I see Yelena ever again? Will the Black Widow family die off-screen now that Natasha is not around?

And then that post-credit scene hit, and despite the pain of watching Nat’s grave, Marvel restored hope in me. When they showed us Hawkeye’s picture, it became obvious that this was not the last time we’d see Pugh in MCU.

Yelena Belova will be in the Hawkeye series. The IMDB cast list credits Florence Pugh’s Yelena for all eight episodes of the show. It’ll most likely establish her character as the White Widow or the next Black Widow of MCU. Although it is still unknown whether we’ll see the iconic Hawkeye x Widow duo again or if she’d be an adversary to Clint.

At this point, I just wish Marvel would give me all the content at once. I absolutely cannot wait to see Yelena again!!!

1. Why is Yelena targeting Hawkeye?

Yelena believes that Clint (Hawkeye) was responsible for Natasha’s death. Clint and Romanoff were the ones who went to Vormir for the Soul Stone, but only the former came back. Yelena blames him for that and likely wants to kill him to avenge her sister.

This is honestly stupid since because we know that Natasha didn’t leave Clint much of a choice. Clint had refused to let her jump and even tried to shove her aside, but you can’t stop a Widow once she’s made her mind.

And when Nat did jump, Clint was as devastated as any of us.

But Yelena doesn’t know that, and I believe this detail was intentionally left out by Countessa Valentina.

2. Who is Contessa Valentina? What Does She Want?

Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is a minor villain in the Marvel comics. Her identity is still a mystery in MCU, but her motive seems to be assembling her own superhuman team. She has already recruited the US Agent (John Walker) and Yelena Belova.

Why the new superhero team? Hard to tell Fontaine used to work for Hydra in the comics, but I doubt that’s her story in the movies. MCU did change the entire backstory and identity of Taskmaster after all. She is being set up as a villain for Phase 4, but I think there’s more to her than just a villain.

It’s gonna take a few more cameos for me to guess anything more than this though. Valentina is a pretty decent mystery, won’t lie.

3. What’s the plot Of Hawkeye?

Kate in Hawkeye

Hawkeye series will focus on Clint and Kate’s relationship, as the latter takes on the moniker of “Hawkeye.” Its described as an “adventure-esque” show and will bring back comic Clint’s worse nightmares like the Clown. Yelena will likely be an enemy-turned-friend.

We don’t know just else about the show yet, but thankfully, there’s plenty of time left for us to figure it out.
