This Is Us Actor Teases William’s Return In An ‘Overwhelming’ Season 6

Ron Cephus-Jones, who plays William on the hit NBC series This Is Us, has said that the sixth and final season is going to ‘overwhelm’ fans.

The show began airing in 2016 and follows the Pearson family’s three siblings and their parents across two different time periods. The series is known for its frequent plot twists and turns and various flashbacks telling an intricate storyline.

Jones’ character, William Hill, appeared in 29 episodes across the first five seasons, and his return was indefinite. With not much having been revealed about Season 6 plot details, here’s what the actor told Entertainment Tonight about what fans can expect from the show’s ending.

I think they got something coming that’s sort of like, it’s gonna just overwhelm everyone. You figure with all the different ends that need to be wrapped up between the inner family, the Pearsons, the uncle, they’re just so many wonderful things that even came out this past season, all the surprises that went on. So there’s a lot of little buttons, I’s that need to be dotted and T’s that need to be crossed, and I think that it’s gonna be even overwhelming for myself.

Jones recently won his second Emmy for his performance on This Is Us. He considers himself to be a ‘big fan’ of the show and said he watched it every week ‘just as the audience does as well.’

As for his character’s fate, Jones did not reveal much but expressed what he would like to see,

There could be a really great opportunity for that to happen. One of the storylines that was so beautiful as some of the relationship that you saw with the grandchildren. And so I have this imagination, this dream sequence in my head to them, one of the two granddaughters. So there could be a multitude of things that [creator] Dan [Fogelman] could come up with, and the writers could come up with. So I’m confident, I’m feeling positive that it may happen.

This Is Us season 5 has such a huge twist that left fans shocked, so one shouldn’t expect the final season to be any less heart-wrenching. There definitely will be a lot of tears shed.

Previously, creator Dan Fogelman told THR that he hopes that if people are crying at the end, ‘it’s not because they’ve killed a beloved character, but because there’s something beautiful being said about the human condition and what it is to be a family.’

About This Is Us

This Is Us is a Dan Fogelman-created American drama television series that debuted on NBC on September 20, 2016. On October 27, 2020, the fifth season will premiere. It was announced in May 2021 that the sixth season would be the series’ final.

The tv series follows the lives of three siblings, Kevin, Kate, and Randall (nicknamed the “Big Three”), along with their parents, Jack and Rebecca Pearson. It takes place primarily in the current time and employs flashbacks to illustrate their personal past.

Most episodes feature a storyline set in the present (2016–2021) and a storyline set at a particular time in the past; even so, some episodes are set in only one time period or use multiple flashback time periods. Flashbacks frequently centre on Jack and Rebecca in 1980, both before and after the birth of their children, or on the family when the Big Three are still children or adolescents (and played by two sets of younger actors).
