Y: The Last Man S2 Canceled; Prod. Hopes It Finds A New ‘Home’

In disheartening news, one of the most diverse shows Y: The Last Man has been canceled by FX, announced Executive producer Eliza Clark on her Twitter.

The news comes right before the season1 finale of Y: The Last Man standing. Clark mentioned that FX is canceling the show, but her tweet suggests it might not be the end of the dystopian show.

Hailed for its gender-diverse portrayal on and off-screen, coupled with some badass women running the world and action sequences, the cast and crew of the show are also in shock.

Clark shared that this was a story that had her committed like nothing else in her entire career and that there are still many more stories to talk about. She added,

Is about gender, about how oppressive systems inform identity. We had a gender diverse team of brilliant artists, led by women at almost every corner of our production.

She, like many others, doesn’t want the show to end.

It is the most collaborative, creatively fulfilling, and beautiful thing I have ever been a part of. We don’t want it to end.

She ended her message with, “We are committed to finding Y its next home.” Similar sentiments were echoed by actress Amber Tamblyn (who essays Kimberly Cunningham’s role).

Charlie Jane Anders, a writer on the show, also said that she has “zero doubts that someone else will have the good sense to pick this show up.”

Y: The Last Man is based on the famous yet underrated graphic novel of the same name, created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

Fans lauded the team for being true and as close to the source material as possible and giving them epic cinematographies. They, just the cast and crew, hope it gets picked up by another studio.

Meanwhile, Y: The Last Man’s second last episode will be released today and the finale on Hulu on October 25.
