Georgie’s father is reeling from the shock of finding out his teenage son got a girl pregnant. He’s even more shocked to hear that the girl in question is actually 29 years old.
The two of them tell Mary, Georgie’s mother, who has an even more explosive reaction and demands to meet Mandy. Mary is worried about the social implications of Georgie having a child out of wedlock and suggests that he marry her.
The next morning, Mary tells her mother about the crisis at hand. Missy and Sheldon pick up on the tension in the house and try to figure out what the adults have been whispering about.
Meemaw reaches out to Mandy and tells her she went through the same thing when Mary got pregnant and that they aren’t going to pass any judgments.
Mary makes plans to send Sheldon and Missy to Brenda’s house for dinner because she doesn’t want the kids to be in the house when Mandy comes over to discuss the pregnancy.
The conversation at dinner gets tense when the topic of marriage and raising the baby Catholic is brought up. George and Mary end up getting into an argument about their own marriage.
