Despite being titled Young Sheldon, the show brings forward intricate, emotional stories of all the Cooper family members. One unexpected character who has won fans’ hearts is Meemaw!
You don’t expect to get sucked into Meemaw’s love life, especially after knowing her The Big Bang Theory version. But Young Sheldon’s sassy Connie very much has a romantic life worth pondering over. This brings us to the question—who will Connie end up with in Young Sheldon?
It is possible that Connie may end up with Dale after he begins expressing his regret over breaking up with her in S6. However, there is also a chance that Connie may stay single till the end of Young Sheldon and focus on her business instead.
Although Connie appears in TBBT a couple of times, none of the appearances give us any clue about her dating history or who she finally ended up with other than Pop-Pop. So let’s dive deeper and see what we uncover!
1. Connie’s Dating History Explained
As told by both Sheldon and Connie, her marriage with Pop-Pop was the stuff made out of magic. Sadly, Pop-Pop passed away too soon when Sheldon was only five.
While it took Connie a while, she certainly got back into the dating scene as depicted in Young Sheldon. During the course of the show, she has dated Dr. Sturgis and Dale Ballard. She also had other love interests like Ira Rosenbloom and Dr. Linkletter, with whom she went on dates as well.
However, even with her new boyfriends, Pop-Pop would remain the greatest love of her life.
2. Will Connie end up with Dr. Sturgis?
It is highly unlikely that Connie will end up with Dr. Sturgis. The two have remained strictly platonic since their breakup and even seemed to have moved on from each other, harboring no romantic feelings whatsoever.
Connie’s pairing with Sturgis was quirky in all its senses, but just as much endearing. While I loved their dynamics as a couple, I truly cherished their breakup arc because there was something ever so beautiful about the fact that they could never work out—especially because of Sturgis’ mental health.
As we see in the ongoing S6, Connie and Sturgis remain friends and that’s perhaps the best way to go about it.
3. Will Connie end up with Dale?
There is a high possibility that Connie may end up with Dale. In S6, Dale has been expressing his regret over breaking up with Connie and has asked her to get back together. It is possible that Connie may agree either at the end of S6 or in S7.
Ever since Dale broke up with Connie in S5, the two have been playing the will-they-won’t-they game. The reason for their breakup was due to their differences in opinions—Dale wanted to retire to a nice, relaxing life while Connie still wanted to live in the fast lane and carry on with her business endeavors.
It is also plausible that Connie was afraid to fully commit to Dale, thinking she would have to “give up” her lifestyle and choices for his more peaceful way of life.
However, in S6, Dale has been expressing that he wants to get back together with Connie. If he offers Connie the option of continuing to live as she wants to, there is a high chance that she might consider getting back with him.
4. Will Connie end up with someone new?
It is possible that Connie may have a completely new love interest by the end of Season 6 or in Season 7. But it’s difficult to accept that the show might introduce such a major player towards the end of the series, as we all know that Young Sheldon is scheduled to culminate with S7.
In my opinion, what serves her arc the best is for her to stay single and pursue her own interests and passions. Connie is an incredibly strong-minded, independent, and brave woman who supports her family, even if it’s through unconventional means.
The best way to end her story would be to have her achieve something she values highly and that allows her to live a comfortable life.
