Andor S2 will feature a paradigm shift in Cassian’s character, says Diego Luna

Diego Luna reveals how Andor season 2 will show Cassian Andor’s tumultuous journey from a carefree thug to a hero who gives his life for the cause.

Cassian Andor is the brave spy we met in Rogue One, who did whatever he could to stop the Empire. The first season of Andor tells us his backstory and what made him join the Rebellion.

Screen Rant had a chance to chat with Luna after he appeared on the Lucasfilm Showcase panel at Star Wars Celebration and asked him about Andor season 2.

Luna hinted at time jumps that will span the four years before Rogue One. He also talked about how Cassian has a lot of growing to do in order to become the hero we saw in Rogue One. Here’s what Luna had to say:

He’s ready to join, but he doesn’t know what he’s getting into. He doesn’t speak the language. He has to learn a new language; he has to understand many things. He has to witness and meet some people that are going to be crucial in shaping him to become the man that is willing to sacrifice everything for the Rebellion.

There’s still a lot that needs to happen, and it’s gonna be exciting. This structure is quite cool. It’s four blocks, and each block is one year. But between each block, there’s a time just. It’ll be challenging for audiences in a good way, and maybe it’ll be exciting and different from season 1.

Andor season one showed us Cassian as a lone wolf who did what he had to do to stay alive. He escaped the Empire, worked for the Rebellion as a hired gun, and endured time in an Imperial jail.

At the end of the season, he lost his adoptive mother and chose to join the Rebellion. Andor season two will see him become a vital part of the Rebellion.

Cassian is skilled as a pilot, thief, and scavenger. He can adapt and plan when he needs to, but he has never been part of a team like the Rebellion.

In season 2, he will have to learn how to cooperate with the Rebellion’s goals and rules. He will also have to learn how to be a good spy, getting the information he needs without exposing himself.

Andor season two can show us more of the Rebellion’s spy network.

The second season will span the four years before Rogue One, probably showing his training and how he will change to become a better Rebel spy.

It could also show the hard choices he will have to make to help the Rebellion and the actions that will haunt him with guilt in Rogue One.

In Andor’s first season, Cassian Andor was self-centered, and only caring about himself, but slowly he will morph into a selfless rebel who lives for a cause.

This is the first step towards his willingness to die to help free the galaxy from the Empire, and fans can’t wait to see Cassian Andor in that avatar.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait for another year before Andor season 2 comes out in August 2024.
