Norman Reedus Jokes Everyone Will Die in The Walking Dead Finale

The Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus, jokes that everyone is going to die in the upcoming series finale. The actor also said the finale will be exciting and emotional for fans.

The much-anticipated Walking Dead finale is all set to air on November 20. At the end of season 11 episode 22, Eugene was freed by Mercer, the Commonwealth army’s commander. Eugene was set to be publicly executed for the death of Pamela’s son, Sebastian.

Mercer’s turn against Pamela sets the stage for an internal conflict within the Commonwealth, leading to a final battle which will be worth the wait.

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, casually joked about how everyone is going to die in the upcoming series finale. The actor further elaborated that the final episodes are going to be highly emotional.

Read his entire statement below –

There are certain moments that are super sad. And then there are certain moments that are like, ‘F*** yeah, that’s the group!’ There will be people yelling ‘Come on!’ There will be lots of that sort of screaming at the television kind of stuff. We went big on the last eight episodes, so there’s a lot of adrenaline. There’s a lot of emotion. There’s a lot of fear. There are all of the things that you would want in a finale, for sure. There’s a lot happening. Some of the groups show some real bravery that you don’t see coming, which is great. And they’re big sets — big badass movie sets. And then everybody dies. NO, KIDDING!

While Reedus’ statement was never meant to be taken seriously, it does raise the question of how many deaths we will actually see in the finale. The Walking Dead is known for killing off important characters without any remorse. However, season 11 has a comparatively smaller number of death toll for the core group of survivors.

Villains including Pope, Leah, and Lance Hornsby have all met their end in the final season of The Walking Dead. However, Alden was the only major hero who died. Perhaps, the makers are preparing us for a large number of deaths coming up in the series finale.

Apart from character deaths, the upcoming finale will also deal with the major inner conflict within the Commonwealth, set up in the last episode. Mercer finally decides to stand up against Pamela’s autocratic rule by freeing Eugene, marking the beginning of a rebellion.

Moreover, characters like Negan and Ezekiel manage to free themselves from the physical labor forced upon them by Pamela. Thus, they too could help Mercer in his rebellion.

Meanwhile, Aaron, Jerry, and Lydia are currently walking with a herd of zombies, who may also have a major role in the finale. Commonwealth soldiers are overseeing the herd and leading them to an unknown location.

Before season 11 part 3 aired, The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero made statements indicating that a massive Walker herd will play a major role in the show’s finale. Perhaps, Pamela will use the Walker herd as leverage against Mercer to get back in power.

While everyone will definitely not die in the season finale, we might lose a few important characters before the show ends.

The recent season, that is season 11, will adapt material from issues #175–193 of the comic book series and focuses on the group’s encounter with the Commonwealth, a large network of communities that has advanced equipment and almost fifty thousand survivors living in their different settlements.
