Hey! Hey! Hank Azaria Has Something to Say About The Simpsons’ Future

Cowabunga! We have something interesting to report about what a certain somebody said about Fox’s long-running animated sitcom, The Simpsons. Hank Azaria, who voices Chief Wiggum and Moe Szyslak on the show, has us pondering about the animated TV series’ future after his recent comment about the show’s possible end.

In an interview with People, the Friends actor stated he “wonders” about the end too, but he “imagines” that they’re going to “keep going.” Check out his complete statement about the show’s continuation below:

I wonder about that, too. You know, we’re doing seasons 35 and 36. I would guess that it would probably go to 40. It seems to be doing well. Standards of what doing well means have changed so much for network television in the last 10 to 15 years. But whatever the standards are now, we seem to be doing well.

People still enjoy making it. They seem to want the show. So I imagine we keep going. The voices don’t really age. So we can keep doing it. And the animation doesn’t age. The animation does get better — and quicker.

As the voice actor mentioned, the show is currently in its 34th season, and Fox has renewed it for seasons 35 and 36. Whether the end is near or not, we’re guaranteed two more years of hilarious antics from the Simpson family and their friends.

Many viewers consider The Simpsons enjoyed a golden period during the first decade of its long run. Since then, the show has had its ups and downs but maintains a steady audience, and viewership rates must be consistent for the animated series to continue for this long.

Fox has kept shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers on for quite a few decades, and that’s because even after all these years, people think they’re worth sticking around.

The milestone aside, the show’s conclusion with season 40 would mean the end of an era, if I were to say. That would be enough to bring in plenty of nostalgic viewers, but obviously, the showrunners can’t half-ass it and deliver a measly series finale. It has to be something big or something memorable!
