House of the Dragon Episode 6: Release Date, Recap, and Speculation

Rhaenyra and Viserys travel to Driftmark to present the wedding proposal to Corlys. Viserys’ health has visibly deteriorated and continues to worsen. Corly accepts the offer, as long as the children bear their father’s name.

Laenor and Rhaenyra come to an agreement regarding their marriage and mutually decide to have relations with whoever they wish to once they’ve fulfilled their duties to the realm. Ser Criston, however, isn’t so keen on the arrangement.

1. Episode 6 Speculation

Disaster strikes at the wedding as Ser Criston ends up beating Laenor’s lover to his death in a sudden rage. Ser Criston then prepares to take his own life but is stopped by Alicent. It’s likely that she will try to use him to her advantage after learning of Rhaenyra’s deception.

Additionally, Viserys’ health will continue to deteriorate. After he collapses during the ceremony, it’s likely that the question of succession will come up sooner than expected.

Daemon will possibly continue to confuse Rhaenyra even after she’s married to Laenor and the truth of their relationship will be at risk of being exposed.

Chapter 6 of the House of the Dragon series, titled “The Princess and the Queen”, has been released on Sunday, Sep 25, 2022 at 6:00 pm PDT.

5. Episode 5 Recap

Daemon pushes his wife, Rhea, off her horse. She falls off and is unable to move. As he walks off, she taunts him for not finishing the job. He then picks up a big rock and presumably kills her.

Meanwhile, Alicent bids her father goodbye and he reiterates that she was wrong about Rhaenyra. He warns her that if Rhaenyra becomes Queen, there will be war as the kingdom will not accept her.

Viserys and Rhaenyra travel to Driftmark to meet Corlys. He proposes a marriage between Rhaenyra and Laenor. Corlys is receptive to the offer but on the condition that Rhaenyra and Laenor’s children take their father’s name.

Viserys agrees but says that when the children ascend to the Iron Throne, they will do so under the Targaryen name.

Meanwhile, Rhaenyra, who knows that Laenor prefers the company of men, proposes that as long as they perform their duties to the realm, they should be allowed to have relations with whomever they want. Laenor agrees.

House of the Dragon is the prequel series to HBO’s blockbuster Game of Thrones based on George R. R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood.
