Dan Returns In Lucifer Season 6 With A Twist

An unbelievably good tale has finally come to an end. After offering five incredible seasons, Lucifer came back for a final goodbye. And it has left many fans both breathless and feeling fulfilled.

A lot happened in Season 6. Floodgates of tears opened as we saw a family coming together and also breaking apart. We also saw a whole lot of laughter and a new, balanced Earth, Heaven, and Hell.

While Deckerstar shippers need to keep tissue and hot cocoa by their side to get through the family drama, one of the biggest questions teased for Season 6 was finally answered.

How did ‘Detective Douche’ Dan Espinoza return? Didn’t we see him die in the arms of his ex-wife-now-Lucifer’s-girlfriend Chloe Decker? Well, the answer’s finally here, and it was arguably one of the biggest surprises of the season.

Kevin Alejandro, who plays Dan, had previously teased his character’s surprising return to Entertainment Weekly, saying, “He is back in some capacity, not the way you expect it, but he’s there.”

In Season 5b, Dan is killed by French mercenaries while trying to help a victim. He dies in Chloe’s arms but gives her a message to pass on to his daughter, Trixie.

Well, all this while, Dan has been stuck in purgatory. He can’t ascend to Heaven as he has pent-up guilt and was in Hell for quite some time. When Lucifer came to know about this, he created a special palace for Dan and told him that he couldn’t send him to Heaven even though he is practically God.

So the Devil made him a purgatory which looks like his precinct, where we see him playing ping pong with another demon. And he’s stuck there for millions of years.

However, the rebellious, goth angel Rory comes to the rescue. In a way. She tries to trick Dan into giving her details on killing Lucifer and ends up bringing him back to Earth.

Only now, Dan. Is. A. Ghost. Primarily because his body is six feet underground and being fed on by insects. Logical, if you ask me.

He possessed his killer Vincent Le Mec’s body and visited his daughter one last time. Knowing his strong, intelligent young daughter is proud of him and can take care of herself, he finally ascends to Heaven in peace.

In peace and love, as he meets his girlfriend Charlotte in Heaven too! Now that’s a love story of being together forever and beyond.

Lucifer’s tear-jerking, full-of-surprises Season 6 is now streaming on Netflix.
