By Sauron! Most Viewers of The Rings of Power Left Season 1 Incomplete

Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is one of the most highly budgeted series of the company. But new information has come to light! A recent report by The Hollywood Reporter states that less than fifty percent of the LOTR prequel’s viewers actually completed season 1.

The finale of The Rings of Power season 1 revealed Sauron’s true identity and teased his plan for Mordor, but something went wrong before the last episode of the aired season. According to sources, The Hollywood Reporter reports that only 37% of domestic viewers completed the series while a meager 45% did overseas.

This low completion rate of the series can be blamed on Amazon Studios’ disorganized guidance or the show’s pacing. But what does it mean for the upcoming seasons of The Rings of Power?

The showrunners planned five seasons of the show and knew where they wanted to end the story before they even began season 1. But considering less than half of the show’s viewers completed the show, and the series didn’t win or even get nominations at big award ceremonies, is their vision going to fall short?

Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke deems the show successful despite review-bombing and low viewership rates. Season 2 is currently filming, so it’s safe to say the studio has no plans to stop moving forward with the show. And showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have promised that they will work on the lacking parts in the upcoming seasons.

Season 2 has a multi-episode battle planned to entice action sequence seekers, and the story is much broader and fast-paced, so for now, hopes seem to be high. Despite complaints, if the season 1 audience gave the show another shot, Amazon may walk away with a better deal than the present.
