Netflix Announces Sequel to Millie Bobby Brown’s ‘Enola Holmes’

Netflix has finally announced Enola Holmes 2 after the first movie was a huge success for the streaming platform in 2020.

The sequel will bring back Millie Bobby Brown as the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes and Henry Cavill as Sherlock himself. Jack Thorne and Harry Bradbeer will also return as the writer and the director for Enola Holmes 2, respectively.

Enola Holmes is currently in the top ten most-watched Netflix movies of all time. With 76 million views in its first 28 days, the sequel was elementary; it just took a while to be confirmed.

Following the release of Enola Holmes, Brown (who also produced the movie) hinted to Deadline that there was more to the story.

“There’s more of the story to be told. The story isn’t over yet. She isn’t grown up, there’s no conclusion. I think she’ll forever be someone who is always evolving, but there’s definitely more to be shown on screen.”

The first movie saw Enola have a surprise reunion with her mother who apologizes for leaving her. However, Eudoria knew it wasn’t “safe” to tell Enola where she was going, as she was involved with the Suffragist movement.

She says to Enola that all she needs to do is leave her a coded message in the newspaper whenever she needs her.

In a final monologue to the camera, Enola asserts how she needs to find her “own path” like the rest of her family.

“I now see that being alone doesn’t mean I have to be lonely. Mother never wanted that. She wanted me to find my freedom, my future, my purpose. I am a detective, I am a decipherer and I am a finder of lost souls. My life is my own. And the future is up to us.”

Now, Sherlock needs to be on the lookout because Enola is in town, and she’s likely to be taking some of his cases. Although the story is vastly different, the movie leaves Enola in a similar position as the end of the first book: The Case of the Missing Marquess.

Though Netflix has confirmed Enola Holmes 2, there’s no start date for filming to begin yet, so it’ll be a while before we see anything from the sequel.
