Disney+ Edits Ms. Marvel to Fix a Major MCU Continuity Error

Thanks to the events of Avengers: Endgame, the MCU timeline is much further in the future than ours. For instance, Spider-Man: No Way Home is set at the end of 2024 and Ms. Marvel in the Fall of 2025 – but doesn’t that mean the events of the web-slinger’s film would affect Ms. Marvel’s events?

To establish and maintain the MCU continuity, Marvel has to remain constantly vigilant of the timeline established in the connected universe. And they’ve proven they’re up to this task after fixing a continuity error in Ms. Marvel on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel’s end credits and season finale include two shots of the Statue of Liberty, which previously was the same blue-green as in our world. But according to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU’s Liberty was remodeled to honor the fallen Avengers. In the MCU timeline, the statue turned copper for Iron Man, and Captain America’s shield replaced the torch.

But Marvel checked up on the Disney+ releases and, to keep the timeline straight, edited Ms. Marvel’s finale and end credits scenes to include the copper color.

Thankfully, the time stamp for Liberty was short, and the shield was destroyed in the 2022 film, so it didn’t need to be included, and thus the error was easily fixed. You can view the before and after shots as pointed out by Twitter user @MsMarvelUK below:

It can get confusing for such a massive media franchise to keep the timeline straight, primarily since it is spread across various films and TV shows. But the impressive note Marvel leaves behind is their attention to detail and rectifying mistakes rather than overlooking them.

The edited Ms. Marvel scenes also establish the mini-series’ place in the timeline, confirming its place sometime after Spider-Man: No Way Home. It is vital for Marvel to keep a close note of such minor errors and do their best to rectify them to provide their viewers with the perfect immersive experience they expect from the studio.
