The Batman IMAX Poster Showcases the Elites and Criminals of Gotham

We’re already counting down the days to when we’d finally be seated in the theatres as The Batman theme begins, sending shivers down everyone’s spine.

Yet it’s still almost a month away, and before that, Warner Bros is busy promoting the film in the most creative ways possible.

(Almost reminiscent of the iconic promotional campaign for The Dark Knight that made everyone, DC fan or not, lose their minds.)

After a few riddles and hidden clues, The Batman’s IMAX poster is here, and it features all the key characters from the film. “There’s more to everyone and everything than meets the eye,” so if you’re an eagle-eyed fan, you might’ve already overanalyzed the poster.

The illustrations look like they’re transitioning straight out of the pages of a comic book into a 50s noir detective film. Batman looks broodingly over the chaos with cut-outs of Catwoman, Riddler, Alfred, Penguin, and Gordon spread out all over the poster.

There’s a huge outline of Matt Reeves’ own version of Bat-Insignia painted in blood-red with the Riddler’s symbol targeting it precisely in the center.

The color scheme consists of red, orange, and black, in sync with the film’s overall theme and previous promotional material. The poster can almost be split into three sides of Gotham city (and Bruce himself).

The right side represents the more ‘elite’ upper-class crowd with Bruce Wayne’s face plastered in the Bat-Symbol’s wing. Shift to the middle, and you have his detective side as he looks for clues in the nooks and crannies of Gotham.

The left is where we see the Riddler and Commissioner Gordon, signifying the criminal side of the city, leading Bruce to adopt his Vengeance/Batman side.

If you stared at the image intently as we did, you’d find an obvious clue – a hidden link. It takes you to the film’s IMAX page, where an early Fan First Premieres is announced for March 1 at 7:00 PM.

Tickets to the exclusive IMAX event will go on sale on February 8 at 9:00 AM PT. These ticket purchases also come with a free Batman comic book copy (one per ticket) while supplies last.

There are a lot of secrets left to unravel, and Bruce Wayne is a part of it all too. Find out how when the film hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
