Here are The Flash Filler/Standalone Episodes That You Can Skip!

If you’re looking for a fun, heartwarming superhero show to watch, The Flash is the way to go! It’s also the perfect gateway to the Arrowverse in case you’d like to dip your toes into more DC TV shows.

With a total of 171 episodes over the span of eight seasons, this show can be quite an intensive binge-watch. So to make things easier for you, here are the 10 filler/standalone episodes from The Flash that you can skip!

That’s right, if you don’t watch these episodes, it won’t affect the continuity in any way, nor will you miss out on any important information. Let’s look at the list:

1. Trickers | Season 1 Ep 17

Here are The Flash Filler/Standalone Episodes That You Can Skip!
The Flash

Trickers is a filler, standalone episode in The Flash S1 that you can skip. It introduces a copycat of the Trickster who wrecks chaos.

If you’re expecting to see the classic version of the Tricker, this isn’t it. However, the story is still fun enough with plenty of twists and turns to make it an entertaining episode.

However, in the grand scheme of things, that is, S1’s main arc of Barry finding his mom’s killer, this episode is not important at all and can be skipped.

2. Legends of Today | Season 2 Ep 8

The Flash’s Legends of Today in S2 can be skipped because it serves as the backdoor episode for Legends of Tomorrow and does not connect to the main storyline.

If you’re not interested in watching Legends of Tomorrow, there’s absolutely no reason to watch this episode. To fill you in, Flash has to work alongside Hawkgirl and others to take down Vandal Savage – a team-up that will ultimately form a new superhero ensemble at Legends of Tomorrow.

3. Duet | Season 3 Ep 7

Duet is a Flash musical crossover with Supergirl. However, because it is not high stakes-plotline nor is it connected to the season’s main arc, it becomes yet another filler episode you can skip.

Fans are divided over Duet as some found it fun and enjoyable while others found it painfully boring. Those are two extreme ends of the spectrum for sure, however objectively you can skip the episode if you wish to concentrate on the main arc and finish S3 faster.

4. Attack on Gorilla City | Season 3 Ep 12

You can skip Attack on Gorilla City in The Flash S3 as it is a standalone filler episode where Team Flash faces off with Grodd on Earth-2.

If you were looking forward to more Grodd episodes since his introduction from S1, here’s your episode! However, I must warn you that the story itself was pretty shabby and didn’t really “stand” well for a standalone. Plus, if you’re only interested in the main Flash arc, this is definitely an episode you can afford skipping.

5. Girls Night Out | Season 4 Ep 5

Girls Night Out concentrated on Iris, Felicity, and the rest of the girl gang going out for a night of fun, but ended up getting into some superhero antics instead. This is a filler episode in S4 that can be skipped.

The writing for this episode did not work out at all, and although it was supposed to be focusing on the women, we get a lot of Barry, Cisco, and others in a subplot that felt very disjointed. When added to the larger S4 story, this episode has no relevance at all. It’s a skip for sure!

6. The Icicle Cometh | Season 5 Ep 6

The Icicle Cometh is a Flash filler episode that can be skipped as it focuses on Caitlin Snow and her father, who is revealed to be the villain Icicle.

If you have a special place for Caitlin in your heart, you’ll love this episode that’s dedicated to her character growth. Here we get to know that the root of her powers (which have caused her a lot of distress and loss) is actually her father, Icicle.

Besides this, however, the episode does not tie into the main S5 arc in any way and can be skipped.

7. Grodd Friended Me | Season 6 Ep 13

Grodd Friended Me is a standalone episode in S6 that depicts how Grodd asks for Barry’s help after an experiment goes wrong. As this is a filler episode, it can be skipped.

Yet another Grodd episode that comes in just for some comedic relief and low-stakes drama. Plus, you see Grodd and Flash being on the same side for the first time! It’s fun to watch if you have ample time but doesn’t contribute anything to S6’s main plotline.

8.  Love is a Battlefield | Season 6 Ep 11

Love is a Battlefield is a standalone episode in The Flash S6 that focuses on Barry’s confrontation with Amunet on Valentine’s Day. This episode does not connect to S6’s arc and can be skipped.

This episode focuses heavily on Barry and Iris’ relationship against the backdrop of Valentine’s Day. Of course, we also have yet another villain interrupting the peace and healing time they need for their relationship. It’s a low-stakes episode and can be skipped if you’re looking to finish off S6 quickly.

9. Masquerade | Season 7 Ep 13

The Masquerade is an episode that focuses on tying up loose ends, highlighting stories about characters such as Cecile, Cisco, and Chester. It does not tie into S7 and can be skipped.

While this episode does have quite a few emotional beats, it does not have anything to do with the main characters or S7’s storyline – which is why this can be a total skip. However, if you’re interested in learning about Cecile’s past, I’d recommend sticking this one out.

10. Impulsive Excessive Disorder | Season 8 Ep 6

Impulsive Excessive Disorder is a filler episode for S8 that focuses on Nora and Bart following the events of Armageddon. As such, it can be skipped as it does not contribute significantly to S8’s main storyline.

Another name I’d like to give this episode is the “Misadventures of Bart and Nora” for all they do is travel through time to correct mistakes they made, only to make even more mistakes. I’m not going to lie, it’s a pretty fun episode as a standalone!

But once again, if you’re not looking to waste time and only focus on The Flash’s main arc, this episode can be skipped and maybe watched later.
