Peacemaker episode 7 was an absolute delight. While the episode wasn’t high on action, it had some dramatic moments that brilliantly set the stage for the season finale and even gave us a glimpse of how the various character arcs will find closure at the end of season 1.
However, fans are already asking if there will be a second season of Peacemaker. The show has won hearts with its satirical writing, immaculate characterization, and hysterical comic timing. With such wide acclaim, a season 2 might seem like a logical next step for James Gunn and HBO Max.
So will we get Peacemaker season 2?
It isn’t confirmed yet, but James Gunn says he has plans for season 2. The creator mentioned that Peacemaker is currently the biggest show worldwide, and there is a great chance of the show being renewed.
In an interview with Deadline, James Gunn mentioned how Peacemaker got HBO Max more subscribers, and billions of people have watched it. He also seemed quite excited to work on season 2 of this phenomenal show, but HBO Max has still not commented on its possibility.
Besides this, the Peacemaker creator seems to be working on another spin-off series based on one of the characters from The Suicide Squad. He said that it’s still very much in its early stages and couldn’t reveal much. Although, he did mention that this show will be very different from Peacemaker in terms of its tonality. The show would be less comical but fall under the same universe as The Suicide Squad.
It looks like James Gunn seems to be quite busy with projects such as Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and this untitled spin-off series. Since all this would take a lot of his time if Peacemaker season 2 is given the go-ahead by HBO Max, it’d still take some time to release, and it is safe to say that we have to wait for at least a year.
Meanwhile, we have an exciting season finale all set to drop next week, and I can’t wait for it. James Gunn hadn’t sent episode 8 to any critic because he wants to avoid any chance of spoilers getting out there earlier than they should. Actor Chukwudi Iwuji who plays Murn in the show, also said in an interview with TVLine that the finale would make fans cry.

Finally, there were some intriguing reveals in the episode 8 teaser, such as Peacemaker’s dove shield, the Cow’s presence, and more. All of this is making me even more restless, and I can’t wait to know how this epic series will unfold in the finale. I guess there’s just one way to find out.
